How to Hide Your Birthday on Skype on PC or Mac

This wikiHow teaches you how to make your birth date private on Skype, or remove it from your profile information, using a computer.

Method 1

Using the Windows App

Open Skype on your computer. The Skype icon looks like a white "S" in a blue circle. You can find it on your Start menu.
- If you're not automatically logged in, you will have to enter your email, phone, or Skype name and your password to sign in.

Click the Skype tab. This button is located on a tabs bar above your profile name in the upper-left corner of the app window. It will open a drop-down menu.

Hover over the Profile option on the Skype menu. This will open a sub-menu.

Click Edit Your Profile on the Profile menu. This will open your profile information on the right-hand side of the app window.

Scroll down and find the "Birth date" line. Your birth date is listed towards the bottom of your profile.

Click the Public button next to your birth date. This option indicates that your birth date is public information on your profile. It will open a drop-down menu.
- Public profile information is visible to everybody.

Select Private on the drop-down menu. This option will hide your birth date from everybody. None of your contacts or other accounts will be able to see your birth date now.

Using an Internet Browser

Open Skype's My account portal in an internet browser. Type secure.skype.com/portal/overview into your browser's address bar, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.
- If you're not automatically logged in to the web portal, you will have to enter your Skype name, email, or phone, and your password to sign in.

Click the Edit profile button on the left sidebar. This button is located between the Billing information and Account settings options on a blue sidebar on the left. It will open your profile information.

Click Edit profile in the upper-right corner of your profile. This is a blue button in the upper-right corner of your Personal Information section. It will allow you to change your profile information.

Scroll down and click your birth year next to Birthday. This will open a drop-down list of years.

Scroll up and select Year at the top. This option is at the top of the year list.

Click your birth month. This will open a drop-down list of months.

Select Month at the top. This option is at the top of the month list.

Click the day of your birth. This will open a drop-down list of all the days in a month.

Select Day at the top. This option is at the top of the list.

Click the green Save button. This button is in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will save your new profile information, and remove your birth date from your profile.

Warnings

Skype's latest app for Mac(Skype 8) doesn't allow you to hide your birthday. If you're using Mac, you will have to log into the web portal with an internet browser, and delete your birthday from your profile information.
