This wikiHow teaches you how to select and freeze rows at the top of a spreadsheet on Google Sheets, using an iPhone or iPad. Frozen rows will always be on display at the top when you scroll down.

Steps

  1. 1
Open the Sheets app on your iPhone or iPad. The Sheets app looks like a green-and-white spreadsheet icon on your home screen, or in a folder on your home screen. It will open up to a list of all your saved spreadsheet files.
    • If you're not automatically logged in to Sheets, you will have to enter your Google email and your password to sign in here.
  2. 2
Tap the file you want to edit. Scroll down the list to find the spreadsheet you want to work on, and open it.
  3. 3
Tap a row number. All the rows are numbered on the left-hand side of your spreadsheet. Tapping a row number will select and highlight the entire row.
  4. 4
Tap the same row number again. After you select a row, tapping the row number again will open a black, pop-up toolbar with your editing options on it.
  5. 5
Tap the rightward arrow icon on the pop-up toolbar. This button is on the right-hand side of the black toolbar. It will show more editing options.
  6. 6
Select Freeze rows on the pop-up toolbar. This option will freeze the selected row, and all the rows above it, at the top of your spreadsheet. You can now scroll down this spreadsheet without losing sight of your frozen rows.
    • If you don't see this option on the toolbar, tap the right arrow again to see more editing options.
    • You can't freeze a single row in the middle of a spreadsheet without affecting the rows above it.
