Dented baseboard (skirting) can be unsightly but it's easy to fix small dents. After fixing, you can paint over the fix and nobody will be any the wiser.

Steps

  1. 1
Locate the dent. It's a good idea to place down something to kneel on while you're working, such as a cushion or a gardener's kneeling pad.
  2. 2
Stick a thumbtack into the dent to make a prick hole.
  3. 3
Apply just a dab of water to the dent.
  4. 4
Cover the whole hole and surround space of baseboard with a cloth such as a sheet or pillowcase.
  5. 5
Press a bottle cap to the area of the dent.
  6. 6
Iron over the wood to expand it. Remove the bottle cap and fabric cover. The dent should now have been removed.
  7. 7
    Repaint as needed.
