In the Pokémon series, Slowbro is one of the two evolved forms of Slowpoke, the other being Slowking. Slowpoke and Slowbro were both introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series, while Slowking was introduced in Generation II.[1] Slowbro is a water/psychic Pokémon characterized by his pink hippo-like body and a Shellder latched onto his tail. As of Generation VI, Slowbro also has a Mega Evolution that transforms Slowbro into Mega Slowbro.[2] This wikiHow article will walk you through the basic steps necessary to evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro, Slowbro into Mega Slowbro in Generation VI, and also how to evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro in Pokémon Go.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 3:Evolving Slowpoke into Slowbro
-
1Capture a Slowpoke with a standard Pokéball. The location of Slowpoke varies widely based on which game you are playing; you can only gain a Slowpoke in Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, Emerald, Diamond, Black 2, and White 2 by trading or migrating Slowpoke from another game.[3]
-
2Raise Slowpoke to level 37. The primary method for this will be to battle Slowpoke against wild Pokémon, against trainers on the road, or trainers in a gym or event.
-
3Allow Slowpoke to evolve when it reaches level 37. If you try to cancel the evolution by pressing ‘’’B’’’, then your Slowpoke will not evolve. It will also not evolve if it is holding an Everstone.[6]
Method 2
Method 2 of 3:Evolving Slowbro into Mega Slowbro (Generation VI)
-
1Evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro at level 37.
-
2Acquire Slowbronite. Slowbronite will be given to you by the old man in Shoal Cave if you make a Shell Bell using Shoal Shells and Shoal Salt.[7]
-
3Acquire a Key Stone. The method for this will vary based on which game you are playing. In X and Y, the player can gain the Mega Ring from Korrina at the top of the Tower of Mastery. In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the player can gain the Mega Bracelet on Southern Island.[8]
-
4Have Slowbro hold on to the Slowbronite. Slowbro will then evolve into Mega Slowbro in battle. Mega evolutions are temporary evolutions at this time in the series. Slowbro and SlowKing are the fully evolved versions of Slowpoke, while Mega Slowbro is only a temporary evolution.
Method 3
Method 3 of 3:Evolving Slowbro in Pokémon Go
-
1Open the Pokémon Go app. The icon will have a red and white Pokéball on a blue background.
-
2Find or earn 50 Slowpoke Candies. You can get candies either by capturing duplicate Slowpoke or by trading in unwanted Slowpoke to Professor Oak.
- When you trade a Pokémon to Professor Oak, you lose that Pokémon, so make sure to save your Slowpoke with the highest level of CP.
- Slowpoke have been reported to spawn most often around rivers, lakes, oceans, and harbors.[9]
-
3Tap on the Pokéball at the bottom of the screen and tap on Pokémon.
-
4Tap on the Slowpoke that you want to evolve. It is typically recommended to evolve Pokémon with the highest level of CP to ensure the strongest evolved Pokémon possible.
-
5Tap on Evolve. You will need 50 Slowpoke Candies to complete the evolution.
-
6Tap on Yes to confirm. Your Slowpoke should now be a Slowbro with a higher CP level and possible new moves.
- Slowking can only be evolved from a Slowpoke; it is not an evolution of Slowbro. To do so you will need 50 Slowpoke candies and a King’s Rock, a rare item that can sometimes be found at Pokéstops or by completing a 7-day Pokéstop streak.[10]
