How to Evolve Certain Pokémon in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl

Gender Wise

Some Pokémon evolve through certain genders. An example would be Combee to Vespiquen. Combee only evolves when it is a female (indicated by the red/pink gender symbol) and when it hits level 21. So Male Combee are kind of useless.

Method 2 of 7:
Leveled up in a Certain Place

Some Pokémon will only evolve if they level up at a certain place in Sinnoh, Hoenn, Kanto or Johto. Examples would be Eevee to Leafeon or Glaceon, Magneton to Magnezone, Nosepass to Probopass. Eevee only evolves to Leafeon or Glaceon at Moss Rock (which is in Eterna Forest) and Ice Rock (which is just beyond Snowpoint) for each Pokemon, respectively. To evolve Magneton or Nosepass, level it up anywhere inside Mt. Coronet.

Level up Via Happiness

Some Evolve when they become friends with their trainer. Examples would be: Budew to Roselia, Chingling to Chimecho. Budew need to level up with friendship during the day and Chingling during the night.

- Magmar > Magmortar: Evolves if traded while holding the Magmarizer.

- Porygon > Porygon2: Evolves if traded while holding the Up-Grade.
- Porygon2 > Porygon-Z: Evolves if traded while holding the Dubious Disc.
- Rhydon > Rhyperior: Evolves if traded while holding the Protector.
- Scyther > Scizor, Onix > Steelix : Evolves if traded while holding the Metal Coat.

In Alola, a Moss Rock is located in the northern section of Lush Jungle, directly north and slightly east of where the player enters. There is no other way to evolve Eevee into a Leafeon.
