This wikiHow teaches you how to enable Follow-Up Mode on Alexa. This useful feature causes Alexa to continue listening for further commands for a few seconds right after she gives a response, so you don't have to say "Alexa" all over again to ask a follow-up question. The light ring will light up blue again to show you Alexa is still listening. Using the Alexa app, you can quickly enable this feature. Follow-Up Mode is currently only available for the U.S. English language.
Steps
-
1Open the Alexa app. The icon is a blue speech bubble with a white outline.
- If you haven't done so already, download the Alexa app for Android on Google Play Store or for iPhone on the App Store, then log in to the Amazon account you used to set up your Alexa device.
-
2Tap ☰. Tap the three-lined button in the top-left corner.Advertisement
-
3Tap Settings. It's the third selection from the bottom.
-
4Tap your Echo device. If you have more than one Echo device, you will need to enable follow-up mode separately for each device.[1]
-
5Scroll down and toggle the switch for Follow-Up Mode. It's the second to last option in the "General" section. Tap the switch next to "Follow-Up Mode" to toggle it to the ON position. When the switch is gray it is disabled, and when the switch is blue it is enabled.Advertisement
