This wikiHow teaches you how to edit a contact’s personal details, including their name, phone number, or email address, on an iPhone or iPad.
Steps

1Open the Contacts app on your iPhone or iPad. It’s the address book icon labeled “Contacts.” You’ll usually find it on the home screen. A list of contacts will appear.

2Find the contact you want to edit. You can scroll down until you see the contact’s name, or type a name into the search bar to refine the options.Advertisement

3Tap the contact. The contact’s details will appear.

4Tap Edit. It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. Now the details are editable.

5Add a photo. If you want to add a photo to your contact, tap add photo at the top-left corner of the contact’s screen, select Choose Photo, then tap the photo you want to use.

6Add a contact phone number. To add an additional phone number to this contact (such as an office or home phone), follow these steps:
- Tap the + next to “add phone.”
- Enter the phone number.
- Tap the label (e.g. mobile, home) to see other options.
- Tap a label from the list, or tap Add Custom Label to type one yourself.
- To delete a phone number, tap the – next to the incorrect or outdated information.

7Tap another detail to edit. You can add an email address, URL, address, birth date, related name, social profile, etc. Tap the plus sign next to the option you want to add, then follow the on-screen instructions to enter the details.

8Set a personalized ringtone or text alert tone. If this contact is someone whose calls or texts you don’t want to miss, you can configure a specific alert tone th ring when they contact you.
- To change their ringtone, tap Ringtone, then select a new option.
- To change the tone you hear when you receive a text from this person, tap Text Tone, then select a tone.

9Delete a contact. If you don’t want this contact to appear in your contacts list at all, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the contact’s details, then tap Delete Contact.Advertisement
