How to Do a Word Count on Google Docs

Google Docs is available as both an app and in your online browser. This wikiHow will show you how to perform a word count check in Google Docs with both the app and online version. However, you are unable to perform this action if your document is a slide show, a spreadsheet, or opened in MS Word compatibility mode.

Using a Computer

    Open your Google Doc at https://docs.google.com. Log in to your Google account if prompted. This method works for both Windows and Mac computers.[1] You can also open saved documents that you didn’t create in Google Docs.
