So you've beaten the first Legend of Zelda game a lot, and now you're looking for a new challenge. Here's a new challenge you can do: the swordless run. It's like a normal run, except that you can't use your sword until the fight with Ganon. You're only required to use the sword to beat Ganon, so you can go through almost the entire game without one. Here's how you can do a swordless run in the game.

1Start a new file.

2Get the sword like normal, but do not use it.

3Get some rupees, and buy the Blue Candle. As you can't use your sword, you can use the candle as a weapon to defeat enemies. To get rupees without defeating enemies, go to the top-right corner of the map, and go into a secret area where you'll get 100 rupees.

4Buy bombs and arrows. Early on in the game, these will be your primary weapons along with the Boomerang. Remember that in this game, arrows use rupees, so have plenty of rupees on you at all times.

5Go through the game as normal, without using your sword. Once you get the Magical Rod, use it as your primary weapon, as it's a useful long-range weapon that can also do damage with strikes that are similar to the sword.

6Beat Ganon, and watch the credits roll. This is the only time in the run that you can use your sword. Pride yourself in completing this challenge, as it's a very difficult one.
