This wikiHow teaches you how to send a private message to a user or group in Slack on an Android.
Steps
-
1Open Slack on your Android. It’s a multicolored icon with a black “S” inside. You’ll typically find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.
-
2Swipe left to right. This opens the navigation menu, which contains the channel list.[1]
-
3Tap + next to “DIRECT MESSAGES.” A list of team members will appear.
- If you’ve been communicating with someone via direct message already, that person’s name should appear beneath “DIRECT MESSAGES.” Just tap it to open a message that user.
-
4Tap the person you want to message. If you want to send a direct message to an entire group, tap the name of each person you wish to message.
- You can only send direct messages to members of your Slack team.
-
5Tap Start. This opens a direct message with the selected user(s).
-
6Type a message. You can type it into the box at the bottom of the screen.
-
7Tap the paper airplane icon. This sends the message to the recipient(s).
