    Create or open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. If you don’t already have an existing spreadsheet open, here’s how to create a blank spreadsheet:

    Click the cell where you want to add your drop-down menu.

    Click the Data menu. It’s at the top of the screen.

    Click Data validation….

    Select List of items from the “Criteria:” drop-down.

    Enter the drop-down list menu items separated by commas. Each word or phrase will be a different option in the drop-down menu.
    • For example, if you type YES, NO, OTHER into the box, you will be able to select YES, NO, or OTHER from your drop-down menu.

    Click Save. The selected cell now displays a drop-down menu. Click the menu to view the available options.
