If you're a girl who wishes to be Batman, think again. You might rather be Batgirl, Batman's female sidekick who knows how to be tough and rock the spandex. These are three looks for each Batgirl, easy to make and pull off.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 3:Barbara Gordon
Method 1
-
1Purchase a black or gray zentai suit. Make sure your neck is covered.
- If you're spending time outdoors in a cold weather, you can wear the zentai suit made of neoprene.
-
2Use a Batman symbol stencil and yellow fabric paint to create the symbol on your chest.Advertisement
-
3Get elbow length yellow gloves. Add yellow foam fins angling towards you along the sides.
-
4Purchase or make a yellow utility belt. Add the bat symbol to the center.
- You can use a military pouch belt as a base. Spraypaint or dye it yellow (khaki/tan works best).
-
5Get yellow boots. They don't need to be high heels but you can wear that if you'd like.
-
6Purchase a blue cape that reaches your knees and cut jagged edges. Hem the edges you created so it won't fray.
-
7To make the cowl, purchase a blue zentai mask that has an opening for your caecum and mouth. Cut out the Batgirl mask pattern and hem. Cut out "Bat ears" from a thick craft foam and attach them to the inside, so it looks more realistic.
-
8Wear a long ginger wig. Alternatively, you can spray your hair with temporary spray, if your hair is short or isn't orange.Advertisement

QuestionHow many pockets can I have?
Community AnswerI should think two pockets would be fine, but you can add however many you want! This is your costume anyway, so get creative! -
QuestionI thought Barbara Gordon was the only Batgirl. Who are these other people?
HBKFanCommunity AnswerCassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown (formerly Spoiler) are the other Batgirls. -
QuestionDo I have to wear a wig?
Venus.exeCommunity AnswerNot if you don't want to. Cosplaying a character doesn't have to be a certain way, as long as you are comfortable and are having fun, that's all that matters. -
QuestionHow do I make a batgirl costume like Yvonne Craig wears on the tv show?
Raphael KeyTop AnswererMake it like the Barbara Gordon costume, but make your cowl purple with a black face and black ears. Add a yellow cape and purple high heels. Other than that, you can follow the instructions from the article. -
QuestionHow do I make the Bat Symbol yellow for the BatGirl costume?
Community AnswerYes. There are many variations, but the most common one is basically the Batman logo. -
QuestionHow do I make Yovonne Craig's batgirl costume?
TobyCommunity AnswerUse lots of creativity. Use references of your character and get to know them. In my personal experience, the best thing to do is look at each item on a character's costume and think to yourself "Why would they have this? Would do they use it for?" It helps with the functionality and looks of the costume, as well as getting to know more about your character. Remember that your cosplay doesn't have to be completely canonically correct. Al long as you have fun, it doesn't matter what you do.
