This wikiHow teaches you how to add a new hierarchy chart to in Excel by using Microsoft's SmartArt feature.
Steps

1Open a new Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You can add a hierarchy chart to any Excel workbook regardless of its contents.

2Click on the Insert tab. This button is located on the navigation bar at the top your screen next to other options including Home, Formulas, and Review. It will open the Insert toolbar at the top of your spreadsheet workbook.

3Click on the SmartArt button. It will open a menu with different types of SmartArt objects that you can add to your Excel workbook.

4Hover over Hierarchy. This will show you different types of hierarchy charts that you can use.

5Select a hierarchy chart. Click on the chart you want to add. This will create a new hierarchy chart, and add it to your workbook.

6Fill out the hierarchy branches. Click on a box and type on your keyboard to change the contents of your hierarchy chart.
