Okay, so your sim finally has a ton of money, either earned by hard work or maybe some other, not so hard way. The big thing is, your sim has a lot of money, and you're ready to either move onto a new lot with a fresh start, or delete your current house and build your house there. But how do you spend all of that money? How do you keep track of everything in that big house? Here's how.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 5:Making the outline
Method 1
-
1Build the outline of your house with foundation. Don't worry, if you mess up, you can always click the handy little undo button.
-
2If you think you might still be a little short on cash, delete the foundation to where there is only the outline of the foundation left. The way this works is, when you put a flooring on, it will go right over and you will have saved a few simoleons.Advertisement
Method 2
Method 2 of 5:Adding walls
Method 2
Method 3
Method 3 of 5:Designing the roof
Method 3
-
1After you have the walls built, go to the section where you can adjust your roof and delete the roof. Then put a new one on. This step could be optional but should almost be considered necessary because unless your house is a big box, chances are that the roof that first came up didn't do a very good job.
-
2Choose a roof pattern, the right roof pattern can really make a house look better. The blank red roof gets boring after a while.Advertisement
Method 4
Method 4 of 5:Adding rooms
Method 4
-
1Decide what rooms you want in your house. Bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen are all necessary for a sim's survival. But since you have enough money to build much more than that, you will probably want to.
- Try to build rooms according to your sims' interests and careers. For example, if your sim is athletic, you might want to build them a home gym, and if your sim is a party animal, you might want to build them a room made just for guests.
Method 5
Method 5 of 5:Decorating
Method 5
-
1Paint the walls and add flooring. Don't fret too much over the color as you can change that later. Don't be afraid to use a flooring that looks a little weird, or that tacky cheap carpet, because you can always change the style later.
-
2Add doors and windows. Try adding big windows so sims can see your awesome house from the outside. Make sure to add some windows on the side of the house that is facing the road, or else your house might look a little, odd. There are really no big rules for doors. Double doors leading to the bathroom, with the right atmosphere, it looks fine.
-
3Add the furniture. This is the fun part. Overuse create a style, and your house could look amazing. There is really no specific way to decorate the house, just try to decorate it according to the rest of the house.
-
4Take an awesome screenshot of your new house! This step is optional, but it is good for remembering your house.Advertisement
Community Q&A
-
QuestionCan I buy an empty lot, or do I have to buy a house and then delete it? What about on the Xbox?
Community AnswerYou can buy a lot with a house already on it and delete it if you want to. This should work similarly for console versions too.
Warnings
- The big thing is practice. The first time you try to build a large house, you will probably fail and those sims will be doomed to living in a, ahem, interesting looking house. Practice a lot! Thanks!
