Tofu is one of the most popular foods in a vegetarian diet for the calcium, iron, and protein nutrients it has. Dress a salad or have it as a side dish by easily baking it.
Ingredients
Makes 4 servings.
- 1 package (16 ounces) firm or extra firm water-packed tofu
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 minced garlic clove or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced; optional
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

1Preheat oven to 350 °F (177 °C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.

2Drain all water from the tofu. Wrap the tofu in paper towels and allow it to set for about five minutes.Advertisement

3Make the soy sauce mixture. Combine soy sauce, garlic, ginger and vegetable oil in a small bowl.

4Slice the tofu into 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) thick slices. Place the tofu slices on the baking sheet.

5Drizzle the soy sauce mixture over the tofu. Use a spatula to gently turn the slices over to coat both sides with the sauce.

6Bake the tofu for about 15 minutes. Turn the slices over and bake for another 15 minutes. The tofu should be light golden-brown and firm.

7Serve the tofu hot. Use the tofu as a substitute for meat or mix it into fried rice or a stir-fry.Advertisement
