This wikiHow teaches you how to use Google Maps on your computer to get directions that don’t include toll roads.

Steps

    Go to https://maps.google.com in a web browser. You can use any web browser, such as Safari or Chrome, to access Google Maps.

    Click the blue arrow. It’s beside the search box at the top-left corner of Maps.

    Click Choose starting point or click on the map. It’s the first field in the blue box at the top-left corner of the screen.

    Type an address or click a starting point. This is where you are now, or from where you’ll be leaving.

    Click Choose destination. It’s the second field at the top-left corner of the page.

    Type an address or click a destination. Maps will calculate directions to the destination from your starting point. As of now, this route may include tolls.

    Click the car icon. This chooses driving as your mode of travel.

    Click OPTIONS. It’s at the bottom of the blue box at the top-left corner of maps.

    Check the box next to “Tolls” under the “Avoid” header. If you also want to avoid highways or ferries, you can check those boxes as well.

    Click CLOSE. Your driving directions will be recalculated to display only roads on which there are no tolls.
