Amazon has previously dabbled in the gaming space with Amazon Prime Gaming, an added bonus of Amazon Prime membership that grants subscribers access to various in-game add-ons and additional access to Twitch streams. Now, Amazon is further committing itself to gaming with Luna, a new cloud-based gaming service. We'll break down everything you need to know about gaming with Luna.

What Is Luna?

Luna is a cloud-based gaming platform. With Luna, you can stream games directly to devices that you already own. All you need is a high-speed Wi-Fi connection and a compatible device.
- Compatible devices include Windows PCs, Macs, Fire TV Sticks, iPhones, iPads, and select Android smartphones.
- Luna debuted in the fall of 2020 as Amazon's own competitor in the growing world of cloud-based gaming. Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming and Google Stadia are Luna's most immediate competitors.

How Do I Access Luna?

Luna remains in an invite-only stage. It is not included as part of an Amazon Prime subscription. You can request access to Luna on the platform's landing page (https://www.amazon.com/luna/landing-page).
- As part of Luna's early access stage, a Luna+ subscription costs just $5.99. Luna+ grants you access to Luna's entire library of games, as well as the ability to stream on up to 2 devices at once.
- If you own a Fire TV Stick, you already have access to Luna, and do not need to request access. Simply download the app and start playing!

What Do I Need To Play Games With Luna?

In addition to a compatible device, Luna requires one of a variety of popular gaming controllers. Users can use a PlayStation 4 DualShock controller, a Razer Kishi mobile game controller or an Xbox One controller. You may also use a traditional keyboard and mouse.
- Amazon also sells a Luna controller for $69.99. It is a wireless, cloud-based controller that allows users to keep playing uninterrupted across different screens and devices.

Amazon recommends an internet speed of 10 Mbps. For 4k gaming, users will need 35 Mbps.
- Luna is currently only available in the continental United States.
