Aiming is the most basic skill in any FPS. This is only compounded due to fact that the Counter-Strike series is known for having the "one-tap" headshot on some weapons. In order to be competitive in Counter-Strike games, accurate and precise aiming is vital. This article will show you some tips as to learning to aim in Counter-Strike.

Steps

Place your crosshair on the enemies neck, when you see your enemy. Aim towards the head.

Click your mouse so as to shoot no more than a couple bullets, it will help control the recoil if you burst (2-3 shots) while moving your crosshair to follow your enemy.

Avoid taking a long time to fire. If the enemy is a decent player then you'll end up dead if you waste time.

Strafe from side to side, when you are waiting for your crosshair to become small again.

Shoot, once the crosshair is small again.

Resist hesitating to run up to his corpse and check for spare grenades or better weapons, once the guy is dead.

Remember not to reload your weapon until you're sure that the enemy is dead and there are no more enemies near you.

The best way to counter this is to either throw a flash or a smoke grenade around the corner or toward the enemy to confuse your opponent, then take your opponent out. You could also simply not engage around corners and try to go around these areas.

Play Deathmatch, you need to learn all types of aim and in what situation to use that type of aim. (eg spray, tap, burst... etc) Deathmatch is really good for practice. You learn to rush and take cover and hold positions a lot more quickly.
