You can add a recovery email address to your Google Account to help in the event that your account ever becomes disabled or you forget your password. This wikiHow will show you how to add a recovery email.

Steps

  1. 1
Go to https://myaccount.google.com/u/1/. If prompted, sign in with your email and password.
  2. 2
Click Security in the lefthand-side menu bar.
    • On a mobile device, the "Security" option will be in the scrolling table of contents along the top of the screen.
  3. 3
Scroll down to Ways we can verify it's you.
  4. 4
    Click Recovery email.
    • If you already set a recovery email before, you'll see it listed there. You can still click the same box to change it.
  5. 5
Verify your password. Fill out the password field and click Next.
  6. 6
    Click ADD RECOVERY EMAIL.
    • If there's already a recovery email set, click the grey pencil to the right to change it.
  7. 7
Type the email address you would like to use as a recovery into the box. This email address should be one that you have easy access to. Then click Done.
    • If you need to change the address after you set it, you can click the grey pencil next to the email you entered to edit it.
