How to Add a Line Contact on iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to add a new contact to your Friends list on the LINE app, using an iPhone or iPad.

Steps

Open the LINE app on your iPhone or iPad. The LINE icon looks like a white speech bubble in a green box. You can find it on your home screen or in an app folder.

Tap the figurehead icon at the bottom. This button is located on a navigation bar in the lower-left corner of your screen. It will open a list of all your LINE contacts.

Tap the figurehead and "+" icon on the top-right. This button is in the upper-right corner of your Friends page. It will allow you to add a new friend.

Invite a contact to sign up for a LINE account. The Invite button looks like a phonebook in the upper-right corner of your screen.

Select your invitation method on the pop-up menu. You'll be prompted to select a method here to send your invite.
- You can send your invite via Text message, Email, WhatsApp or Facebook.
- Depending on the method you choose here, you may need to select a contact from your contacts list, or enter your contact's phone number or email address.

Use a QR code to add a friend. Tap the QR code icon next to Invite at the top to open your iPhone or iPad's camera.

Scan your contact's personalized QR code. Use your camera to scan your friend's QR code, and they will be automatically added to your Friends list.

Use the Shake feature to find friends around you. Tap the Shake it! option on the top row of the page. This will open a green page.

Shake your iPhone or iPad to find who else is shaking around you. LINE will search around and display nearby friends on the screen.
- If you see somebody you want to add to your Friends list, just tap their name.

Tap the
Search button on the top-right. This will allow you to search and add a contact by their LINE ID or phone number.

Enter your contact's LINE ID into the search field. Tap the text field on the search page, and enter your friend's name here to find their profile.
- Alternatively, you can select the Phone number option at the top of the page, and enter your friend's phone number into the search.

Tap the green Add button below your contact's name. This will add the selected contact to your Friends list. You can now chat with them on LINE.
