This wikiHow teaches you how to add reactions to Switch Control, which allows people with limited mobility to perform multiple-step actions (such as zooming in or activating Siri) with one touch of a button. After you add a recipe, you'll be able to use an assistive device to activate it.
Steps
-
1Open your iPhone's Settings. To do this, tap the grey gear icon on one of your Home screens--or, if it's in a folder, in "Utilities."
-
2Tap General.Advertisement
-
3Tap Accessibility.
-
4Scroll to the third group of options and select Switch Control.
-
5Select Recipes.
-
6Select Create New Recipe.
-
7Tap the "Name" field.
-
8Type in a name for your switch. While optional, doing so will help identify this action.
- For example, if you're setting up a switch to allow you to tap an app by pressing a button, you might name it "App Tap" or something similar.
-
9Tap Assign a Switch. To create a Switch Control recipe, you'll need to have an assistive device (such as a Tecla Shield) wirelessly connected to your iPhone.[1]
-
10Select a switch. If you haven't yet paired your assistive device, you'll need to do so by selecting "Add New Switch" in the "Switches" section near the top of the Switch Control menu.
- Your process for adding a new switch will vary depending on the device itself.
-
11Select an action. You should see several actions listed in this menu. While the options you'll see here will vary depending on the type of switch you've enabled, some of your options will include the following:
- Tap Middle of Screen
- Right to Left Swipe
- Left to Right Swipe
- Hold at Point
-
12Return to the Switch Control menu. Your Switch Control recipe has been successfully added to your Recipes list.Advertisement
Warnings
- Enabling Switch Control without the proper hardware may cause issues with your iPhone's functionality. Thanks!
